Gayle Dowling grew up in a family that appreciated and
loved art and music. She first received art instruction from her grandmother,
Mary Lott. Mary studied under the
well known seascape artist Ray Bradbury and her works were displayed at her
popular art gallery in Laguna Beach.
Gayle later studied drawing and watercolor in college, and then taught
workshops to students and teachers in her school district Jurupa Unified where
she taught for 20 years until her retirement in 2010. Gayle holds a BA in
Liberal Studies and a Master’s degree in Curriculum Development. She is
currently teaching watercolor workshops for Riverside Community College and at
her art studio in Wrightwood, “The Loft”.
“The Loft”, a working art studio founded by Gayle, was recently featured
in Wrightwood’s Mountaineer Progress newspaper. Gayle’s artwork has also been
featured in Inland Empire’s “Elan” magazine and has been shown at a number of
art galleries, art walks and coffee houses throughout Southern California.
Gayle is also a musician and band leader of “The Gayle and Company Band”
who perform at The
Village Grind in Wrightwood and at The Village Grind’s Art Walk, which takes
place the first Friday of every month. She performs as well at other local
events and throughout California and Oregon. Gayle has produced several CD’s which
are for sale along with her artwork in “The
Loft”. |
